Episode 25, Holding out for a Hero

Posted by: Miss Kalendar  :  Category: Uncategorized

In Episode 25, Miss Kalendar speaks to her constant sock knitting, her desire to finish her shawl, and her spinning.

There is no report from Gail, but she did do the lovely bumper in the beginning. Thanks, Gail!

In the Science Fiction portion, miss K delves in to what it means to be a hero in television and movie media these days, and what the nature of heroism infers.

Lastly, there is a CONTEST! Post a steampunk pattern to knit, spin, or crochet to the ravelry brass needles group, comment with it on this webpage, or send her an email with it at miss.kalendar@gmail.com to enter. The winner will be chosen at random from the entries, and the winner will receive an autographed copy of Soulless by Gail Carriger! Good Luck!!

Episode 24 – Morally Ambiguous Yarn

Posted by: Miss Kalendar  :  Category: Episodes

Episode 24 is about yarns of the world, specifically yarns that Miss K has been given from the travels of her friends – she’s never really been anywhere herself. Miss K has a love of yarns from abroad – they make her feel connected to the larger community of knitters.

There is an update from Gail – as per usual. To view the pictures associated with her report, visit her blog: www.gailcarriger.com

Lastly, there is a sci-fi portion where Miss K gets in to the knitty gritty of District 9 and why it wasn’t quite the movie she expected. Your comments and opinions are, of course welcome – if you are on Ravelry, please come visit the Brass Needles boards and join the discussion of the movie- and anything else.

Episode 23, Monster Movie of the Week

Posted by: Miss Kalendar  :  Category: Uncategorized

In Episode 23, we hear all about Miss K’s love of stripey socks, her love of lace, and her new sweater project! There has been some spinning in hopes of one day doing the Aeolian from knittyspin, but it’s still a ways off.

There is a lovely fashion report from Gail Carriger – just don’t ask her about Michael Cors!

In the Sci-Fi portion, Miss K waxes poetic about the giant shark vs. mega octopus monster movie. Specifically, about Deborah Gibson and her acting chops. And why is it that every movie that features san fransico always seems to want to mess with the golden gate bridge? Miss K doesn’t like this idea as she only lives an hour away. And likes driving over that bridge (especially when it is nice and foggy!!)

Episode 22, Well, I guess that’s right

Posted by: Miss Kalendar  :  Category: Episodes

In Episode 22, Miss K speaks to her love of knitting socks, and her not-really-doing-the-52-pair-plunge tally of socks. She’s on pair 13 – just at or behind the challenge.  She wants to make a sweater, but it being cagey about which one, except that she’s in love with the Tangled Yoke Cardigan and the Joan Crawford. She’s even purchased some yarn from Purlescence.

Gail Carriger gives a second report on Peru!

In sci-fi, Miss K goes off on one of her big annoyances, mean/jerky characters in her sci-fi – like Dr. Polaski and Ensign Ro. Miss K doesn’t like dealing with mean people on her sci-fi since she can do that on a daily basis in real life if she wants.
