In this episode, Miss Kalendar discusses Knitting Socks, Spinning, a Spinning Wheel Mishap, and the AWESOME customer service of Purlescence.
There is the triumphant return of Gail Carriger, who lets us in on the newest knit trends from south of the border.
The sci-fi portion is a bit of an unraveling of Star Trek Deep Space 9, the first season, and the place of terrorists and people of color in the the Trek series vs. what was going on in the US at the time. Enjoy!
Lastly, a thank you to everyone for listening and for being CLASSY! You are the reason this podcast is good.

In Episode 20, we have the culmination of Andrew and Miss Kalendar’s Bridging the Gap discussion.
First, Miss K has finally fiished her puff sleeve feminine cardigan (thank you Stephanie Japel for the awesome design) complete with buttons (thank you Gigi and Jasmin of the knitmore girls for the tutorial). She’s still making socks….and she’s considering another sweater. This time, maybe she’ll spin for one.
The sci-fi portion is more of the chat with Andrew.
Enjoy!

Well hello! Episode 18 involves knitting, spinning, and sci-fi, as usual. First up, there is the knitting and spinning portion of the podcast. Mostly socks and spinning, as usual. No major goals accomplished, but Miss Kalendar is pleased to report that she’s using her first handspun to make some toe-up socks….which is strange since she’s only made one pair of toe ups before on size 0, and now she’s designing a pair on size 2s.
In the sci-fi moment, Miss Kalendar is joined by her friend Andrew where they bemoan the lack of sci-fi on American Television networks and praise the BBC for helping to fill the void. They also have a moment of love for It’sIt Ice Cream Sandwhiches. Miss K is partial to the coffee ones, but couldn’t get her hands on any. Andrew likes the Vanilla. There is also a discussion of Star Trek as the perfect society vs. us now and what we would have to do to get there. Miss K comes to the conclusion that the enemy is us.

In Episode 17 we discuss all the usual things: Knitting, Spinning, La Femme Nakita….wait? what? La Femme Nakita? well, yes, actually, and CSI and Bones….the shows that are sneaking little sci-fi nuggets into our day to day tv watching.
Then there is also a discussion of my knitting. Actually, that happens first. There is a bit about socks, the swallowtail shawl (or the one week shawl if you’re me), and my knitting masters level 1.
Gail is missing again as she is off on adventures. Keep up with her one her website, linked in other posts and the sidebar: www.gailcarriger.com
